Strawberry Shortcake

Our first order for Strawberry Shortcake! Not having any girls I always love doing girlie designs, Michelle's daughter, Aimee, is about to turn 15 so no more cute things for her either. We'll be celebrating her Birthday with an afternoon high tea - Mom and Aunty Kim will be setting up, making, baking AND cleaning up for the Birthday girl and her friends, wish us luck!! Photo's to be posted after the big event!

Baby shower cuppies.....

These Babies feet are one of our fist designs but yet they are still being requested, we love making them so are always happy with the repeat orders.

I'm a sucker for Vespa's, we just had to include this one as part of the decor.....
The wedding favours......
Sushi for starters, French and Italian for mains.......
Tall cafe style table & chairs adorned with natural fynbos and beautiful summer roses.

When life hands you lemons make lemonade......

On March 20 we had the privilege of co-ordinating Adrian and Liza's lemon themed wedding, the setting was a private residence in the quaint village of  Rooi Els, high above the rocks over looking the magnificent warm Indian Ocean.  We decided on the lemon theme as this blended in naturally with the beautiful Fynbos, which grows in abundance on the rocky slopes.  Beautiful hues of greens, yellows, khakis and mustards, an awesome sight with a dreamy sea view as the backdrop. On arrival guests were directed by a path of rusty heart stakes planted in the ground with romantic laser cut words dangling from them, around the corner was a lemonade stand, welcoming guests with their own bottle of ice cold homemade lemonade and a classic spot to leave your gifts.  The deck was romantically decorated with lazer cut hearts, bottles of bright yellow roses, wire hearts filled with lemons and tall cafe style table and chairs drapped with crisp white tableclothes..........for starters it was plated fresh sushi,  from there onwards the fare never stopped, trays of tempting Italian antipastis, caramelized red onion, rocket and goats cheese wraps, prawn & chive crumpets with saffron mayonaise, spicy spinach and butternut parcels, chicken, haloumi & preserved lemon skewers just to name a few of the dishes being served.  On the dessert buffet where creamy marshmallows, giant chocolate and almond meringues, caramel pastry horns and to top it off decadent ice cream cones where doing the rounds.  Pretty white and yellow cupcakes boxed with thank you tags attached where offered as favours. Overall the wedding was intimate, refreshing, casual but elegant, unique and 100% Adrian and Liza!

Funky Cupcake wrappers........

These are wonderful for the perfect finishing touch to your cupcakes, whether it be for your wedding, babyshower, Birthday party or a simply Thank You gift.

Funky Cupcake wrappers.....

For many months now we have drooled over the amazing cupcake wrappers our friends in the land of the stars and stripes where able to present their cupcakes in, romantic rose cutout wedding wrappers, girly pink daisy wrappers, hearts and stars just to name a few, I'm sure you have all seen them when searching for cool cupcakes.  We then discovered we could actually buy them online but with the dollar/rand exchange rate and postage costs we weren't very impressed by what it would end up costing per cupcake!  So, after a bit more investigation we discovered, much to our delight, a local company who can laser cut any wrapper we want, yay!!

Teapot cookies

We have made so many cookies recently but just never seem to photograph them! These we made to match the Birthday cake in the next pic.

Happy Birthday Great Granny!

Happy Birthday Great Granny!, originally uploaded by The Cupcake Tarts (previously Tutta Bella).

We had great fun creating the 6 Great Grandchildren for this Great Granny's 79th Birthday. While in transit our fondant started cracking, much to our horror, the two chaps on the outside where almost amputated from the waste down and the little girl second from the left lost her skirt!!!! Thankfully we had enough time to do a bit of reconstructing and added a few extra props to conceal the damage. The cake is a double layered chocolate ganache covered in fondant icing.

A front view of the cake, a giant moist chocolate cupcake cake covered in swiss milk chocolate ganache and decorated with fondant.

Angel Giant cupcake

We loved making this cake for this little angels first Birthday. Mom wanted all gold and white with an Angel theme, we made cookies to match but unfortunately never got a pic of the cookies.
